  • Perfect for painting ammo pouches, soft gear, and sun-exposed equipment
  • Balances seamlessly with Light Tan and Dark Tan for layered camouflage effects
  • Ideal for dioramas set in transitional or arid Pacific Theater environments
  • Made in the USA using high-quality, model-grade acrylic formulation

Description:
Frogskin Camo Tan is a warm, mid-range tan tone developed to represent one of the transitional shades used within the U.S. Marine Corps’ WWII frogskin camouflage system. As part of both jungle and beach-side camo schemes, this tone helped blend service members into natural environments featuring sand, clay, and dried foliage.

Frogskin Camo Tan is in our set Item #29456 U.S. Army Armor & Infantry WWI to Vietnam and the Item #29503 US Military Acrylic Paint Set, 81 pieces.

Color Description:
Frogskin Camo Tan sits between Light Tan and Dark Tan in value and chroma, with balanced beige and ochre undertones. It was used to modulate the frogskin pattern in both field and equipment applications, enhancing visual disruption when layered with deeper and lighter tones. Its neutral warmth makes it especially versatile for modeling sun-baked gear and dusty battlefield surfaces.
This color was used prominently in WWII by the U.S. Marine Corps.
•    In WWII, it appeared as a mid-tone component in the reversible frogskin camo pattern for uniforms, shelters, and field gear
•    Helped integrate blotches into seamless camouflage transitions across beach and jungle sides
•    Elements of this tone were reused in limited applications through Korea and early Vietnam on legacy gear
Modeling Uses
•    Paint frogskin camouflage by layering mid-tones between Light Tan and Dark Tan
•    Ideal for soft gear such as ammo pouches, packs, and uniform detail
•    Useful for dry or transitional terrain dioramas that require natural blending
•    Combine with Dark Tan, Light Tan, and Dust to produce authentic camo gradations
